Bringing drivers together with football

We recently organised a novelty football match in Lagos to connect drivers, show our commitment to driver engagement, and strengthen our relationship with drivers on the Bolt platform.

Held on 12 June, the event brought together a group of talented drivers and Bolt employees for a day of friendly competition. And attendees included Ministry of Transport representatives and other industry stakeholders.

The game proved a success as enthusiastic spectators passionately cheered on their fellow drivers, who showcased their skills and prowess! 

The event was kicked off by Yahaya Mohammed, Bolt Country Manager, and Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Bolt’s Senior Public Policy Manager for West and Central Africa, who encouraged drivers to take advantage of the bonding and socialising opportunity.

“I’m thrilled to witness the incredible comradeship and passion displayed by drivers at this novelty football match. This event shows Bolt’s unwavering commitment to driver engagement and satisfaction. 

We believe in fostering a strong sense of community and building meaningful relationships with drivers. Together, we’re driving towards a future of excellence in service and driver empowerment,” said Yahaya.

Not just a game, the event provided a unique opportunity for drivers to make new connections. Through the power of sport, we attempted to create an enjoyable environment that fostered camaraderie among drivers — cultivating a sense of community.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in this football match. The event showcases Bolt’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with drivers and building a strong community among us drivers. It’s inspiring to see the company go beyond just providing rides and creating opportunities for us to connect with our fellow drivers,” said one driver representative.

The match was followed by an award ceremony — the winning team getting a cash prize of N250,000, and the runners-up and third-place teams receiving N150,000 and N100,000, respectively.

We recognise the integral role drivers play, and we’re constantly looking at new ways to connect with them. Drivers are at the heart of everything we do, and events like this remind us of our shared goals and aspirations,” added Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Bolt’s Senior Public Policy Manager for West and Central Africa.
