A Ride Through Time: take a journey back in time with Bolt 🚗

Bolt is the leader in the South African ride-hailing industry.

It’s been 10 years since we started our journey in the ride-hailing industry and it’s been an incredible one. With over 40,000 driver partners in 23 cities across the country.

Our commitment to providing safe and reliable transport services has allowed us to become the go-to option for millions of customers. 

In South Africa since 2016

Since launching in Johannesburg in 2016, Bolt has leveraged its footprint and spread beyond ride-hailing, partnering with restaurants to launch Bolt Food in Cape Town and Johannesburg in 2021.

Taking things to the next level, and working hard to ensure customers get delicious meals delivered to their doorsteps.

This year in 2023 Bolt launched a six-month-long internship termed, Outternship to offer six selected female candidates an opportunity to kickstart their career in an exciting role, as a commitment to drive more participation and inclusion for women in technology.

It’s an exciting time for us, as we continue to innovate the app, increasing our safety features to ensure that citizens have access to safe, affordable and quality rides, trip after trip,” says Takura Malaba, Country Manager of Bolt South Africa.

How to take part

• Share a throwback picture from 2016 – 2023: Dig through your photo albums and find a picture from 2016 to 2013 that takes you down memory lane. It could be a snapshot of your first Bolt ride, your first business, your friend group, or any memorable moment.
• Share a picture from 2023: Capture a moment from today, showing where you are now. Whether it’s the growth of your side hustle into a full-blown business, your friend group’s incredible glow-up, or any other accomplishment you’re proud of, we want to celebrate it!
• Post on your IG feed using the hashtag #ARideThroughTime: Post both pictures (side by side or in a carousel) and use the hashtag #ARideThroughTime. This will help us find your posts and share in your journey.
• Tag Bolt South Africa: Don’t forget to tag @Bolt_SouthAfrica in your posts so we can see and celebrate your journey.
